District Fees

As of March 1, 2025

This is to inform you of a 9-1-1 service fee change for the Abilene/Taylor County 9-1-1 District as
provided by the applicable governing directives and respective Services Agreements. On February 26,
2025, the Abilene / Taylor County 9-1-1 District Board of Managers set the current 9-1-1 emergency fee
to a flat rate of $1.85 per residential line, $16.00 per business line, $16.00 per voice over internet
protocol (VOIP) telephone number (TN) and $16.00 per business PBX / trunk effective June 4,
2025. Note for VoIP remittances, the rates used will be the above commercial rates. The Board
independently set the Emergency Service Fee as a per line/flat rate rather than a percentage of AT&T
services rates.

Sec. 772.314.  9-1-1 EMERGENCY SERVICE FEE. 

(a)  The board may impose a 9-1-1 emergency service fee on service users in the district.

(d)  The board shall set the amount of the fee each year as part of the annual budget.  The board shall notify each service supplier of a change in the amount of the fee not later than the 91st day before the date the change takes effect.

(e)  In imposing the fee, the board shall attempt to match the district's revenues to its operating expenditures and to provide reasonable reserves for contingencies and for the purchase and installation of 9-1-1 emergency service equipment.  If the revenue generated by the fee exceeds the amount of money needed to fund the district, the board by resolution shall reduce the rate of the fee to an amount adequate to fund the district or suspend the imposition of the fee.  If the board suspends the imposition of the fee, the board by resolution may reinstitute the fee if money generated by the district is not adequate to fund the district.

Do not remit to the City of Abilene, Taylor County, or to the street address for the District. 

We stipulate our coverage area is the incorporated and unincorporated areas of Taylor County, Texas and the City of Abilene, including the portion of the City of Abilene in Jones County, but excluding Dyess AFB. Please remit to us, only those service fees obtained from customers within our service area.
